Where were you born and raised?

I grew up in White Lake, MI.

What was your journey to obtain your college degree? What school did you attend?

I received my undergraduate bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University with a major in entertainment and sports promotion and a minor in journalism. After graduation I worked for a few ski resorts out west and for two National Hockey League (NHL) teams in fan development and youth/amatuer hockey.

After my stint with my second NHL hockey team, I moved back to Michigan and started to work in the mortgage finance industry for over seven years. While I had a great experience, I felt I wanted to make more of a difference in people’s lives, so I went back to school to become a physical education teacher. I received my Masters of Education degree in physical education and physical activity leadership degree from Wayne State University. Within this role, I can use my passion for sports/fitness/health and helping others to promote wellness to our youth and help see the importance of engaging in physical activity over their lifetime.

What do you like most about Livingston Classical Academy?

I am passionate about students who learn and grow while becoming more physically literate and who enjoy being active. I get excited seeing my students participate in a variety of sports, games, and fitness activities with the hope that each student will find new activities that resonate with them and that they will want to continue learning outside of class. This adds to students becoming lifelong learners who are active and healthy people. Livingston Classical Academy values all of these things.

I love seeing our students work together with others and learn what true teamwork and good sportsmanship are truly about. At Livingston, we develop students to be good overall citizens who help classmates and teammates through encouragement and kindness. I enjoy watching them learn how to motivate and respect each other. It is awesome.

What do you do outside of the classroom? What are your hobbies?

Outside of the classroom, I love to be active. I play hockey, snowboard, tennis, swim, wakeboard, wakeskate, hike with my dogs, bike, workout and read. I also love to go on snowboard trips out west and have a goal to visit as many mountains as I can.
